OUR STORY

The Journey from Small Beginnings

In the fall of 1968 a prophetic word came to Reverend and Mrs. Claxton through a man of God saying, “Make haste and establish a house of liberty; a house of refuge for God’s people; for there are many in this city in houses of bondage to pharaohs behind stain-glass windows”.

- Apostle Aaron B. & Dr. Deborah J. Claxton, Founders of New Creation Christian Church

The Journey Began...

In the fall of 1968 a prophetic word came to Reverend and Mrs. Claxton through a man of God saying, “Make haste and establish a house of liberty; a house of refuge for God’s people; for there are many in this city in houses of bondage to pharaohs behind stain-glass windows”. So the Chapel of the Risen Savior church was founded by Pastor & Mrs. Aaron B. Claxton in the living room of 3707 Woodbine Avenue in Northwest Baltimore. The church began with their six children, one senior, Mother Florence B. Williams and two other members. Sixty children were gathered from the neighborhood for a summer program and the church was established.

In 1969, we moved into our first building located at 3519 Dolfield Avenue (formerly a Gino’s Restaurant) where the hand of the Lord moved mightily and souls were added to the Kingdom. The church was chartered that year at that location.

In 1975 the church moved to 4617 York Road on the East side of Baltimore. The name was changed to Church of the Risen Savior. There the congregation grew to more than 250 souls.

Broadening the Vision...

In 1983, Pastor Aaron B. Claxton was ordained as an Apostle; Co-Pastor Deborah Claxton was ordained as an Elder & Minister A. Bryan Claxton was ordained as an Elder and elevated to the position of Youth Pastor.

In 1985, the church moved to its present location, 5401 Frankford Avenue and the name changed to New Creation Christian Church. Elder A. Bryan Claxton, the eldest son and Sheila Claxton his wife were elevated to the pastorate of the church in 1991. Apostle Aaron and Dr. Deborah were called to a global ministry and are currently traveling the nations preaching and teaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with signs following.

“Pastor Bryan” retired from his government job to become fulltime Pastor in 1996. In 2002 Pastor A. Bryan Claxton was consecrated to the office of Bishop. The church is currently in an expansion project, following a mandate from the Lord to “Expand for the Harvest”.

A New Season on the Journey...

Still rooted in faith, New Creation is following the prophetic word given in 1968 to “Make haste and establish a house of liberty; a house of refuge for God’s people; for there are many in this city in houses of bondage to pharaohs behind stain-glass windows”. New Creation is a light in the east Baltimore Community and a stands for righteousness in the Kingdom of God.

New Creation will continue to "Change Lives Through the Life Changing Gospel of Christ Jesus" and live out the Godly principles upon which it was founded. Great thing are ahead on this journey.
